Starring: Annabeth Gish, Julia Roberts, Lili Taylor
Opening Date: October 21, 1988
The beginning was a little confusing for me, because it started off with a wedding who was Jojo's (Lili) sister, but looked exactly like Jojo. So it's her sister...
Two sisters and a friend (Annabeth, Julia and Lili) all work at a pizza shop, each having their own problem. Kat (Annabeth) is a smart, driven, bright girl who has a bright future and going to Yale. The problem seems that no guy is interested in her and she seems to feel jealous of her sister, Daisy (Julia), because Daisy can get any guy she wants. Daisy knows she will never amount to Kat and wants her mom to know it. Jojo has a boyfriend who is adamant about marrying her, and even breaks up with her because of it.
Kat ends up falling for the guy she babysits for to only find out it was a fling, and after love making, that it seemed like it didn't mean anything. But it meant so much to Kat, but she found that she had to move on. Daisy also falls for someone who's rich, and got kicked out of school. She finds out that he uses her toward his own family because she's lower class than them. Watching the movie, I didn't really figure out why he would do that, and didn't really understand the explanation.
What I didn't agree on was the mother being so harsh on Daisy because she wasn't going to school, she didn't see who Daisy really was, only what she wanted her to be. I think she could've encouraged her but not change her into her sister, who Daisy was not.
The movie is a very coming of age movie, and a chick flick or to just watch with a group of friends. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, and Julia Roberts is gorgeous in the film. All three of the girls played the characters very well.
